Tamper-Proof Screws: What Are They?

Tamper-Proof Screws: What Are They?

Tamper-proof screws, also known as security or anti-theft screws, are recognized by the special configuration of their head or type of drive.
One of the advantages of this product is the vast array of combinations and options between the type of head and drive, which allows it to meet various needs.

The most commercial head types for these items are:

  • Flat countersunk head
  • Dome countersunk head
  • Pan head
  • Cylindrical head

What makes them immediately recognizable is not so much the head but the type of drive, among the most common we find drives with:

  • Two holes,
  • Torx and pin,
  • Hex socket and pin,
  • One-way,
  • Pozidriv,
  • HFS Type

Given their use in situations where securing the fastening is necessary, these screws can only be installed with specific screwdrivers or bits.

They are generally used for securing structures in public spaces, grilles, wiring, electrical panels, accessories on agricultural and industrial machinery. For a greater guarantee of hold and security, these items are used in the production of home appliances and in the automotive sector.

These items can be found in steel and stainless steel in the market, to satisfy a wide range of needs and applications. In addition to these, there are tamper-proof or anti-theft nuts, which can be applied and removed with specific tools just like the screws.
